Jon White was the prime reason that Brentwood "C" came away from their visit to Mountnessing "C" with a 5 - 5 draw - undefeated but needing five ends to defeat Peter Hardiman who along with Paul Singleton collected two wins each and a win in the doubles over Chris Hills and White. Brentwood's third player being Graham Mann - all three visiting players defeating Alan Hart.

Buttsbury "C" were then away against a Mountnessing "C" team and could only field two players in Andrew Pepper and Lewis Brown - yet still managed to collect four wins with Pepper on the mark with two and Brown contributing one win with the pair then combining to take the doubles point against Suzanne Shaw and Alan Hart - Shaw collecting one win, Peter Hardiman winning both his games and those three wins plus the three points conceded was enough to secure victory for Mountnessing 6 - 4.

Week Commencing 5th December

Top two teams met in a crunch match at St. Josephs Hutton in which the result hinged on the doubles played at the end of the singles with the score 5 - 4 to the home side against second placed Mountnessing "B" - Joan Donovan and John Newman of Mountnessing defeating David Barnes and Norman Feakins to ensure the spoils were shared at 5 - 5.    Mike Pratley was unbeaten for St. Josephs with his third victory being the defeat of Donovan in the final singles with the visitor winning her other two encounters. Newman and Claire Abraham defeating Feakins for their contribution.

Week Commencing 28th November

An outstanding unbeaten display from Joan Donovan was not enough to see her Mountnessing "B" side leave Brentwood "C" with anything more than four points in a 4 - 6 away defeat at the hands of Chris Hills, John Benson and Jon White who all recorded defeats over Len Jupe and Suzanne Walker - none of the ties going to five ends with only three taken in three ends.

Graham Sturton was another Buttsbury player to record a maximum - this one for their "C" team against Billericay Sports "E" - however Sturton found himself on the losing side as Richard Hayhoe and Mike Newman won two each and Ron Milbourn one for the visitors who also took the doubles point and a 6 - 4 away win.  For Buttsbury Tony Nettleingham won once with Sam Yates unable to score.

A doubles win for Rick Paris and Stuart Weston gave Brentwood "D" a share of the spoils against Brentwood "C" but player of the match award must go to the newcomer making his debut in the "D" team - Stuart Weston who won his three games in fine style and with Paris also winning once plus the point in the doubles ensured a drawn match - Charles Yeung being the home side's third player against Chris Hills and Jon White who won two ties each and Mike Hooks wi9th one win.

Mountnessing "B" claimed a fine 9 - 1 home win over luckless Billericay Sports "F" with John Newman and Joan Donovan unbeaten and Len Jupe winning twice - defeat for him coming at the hands of Steve Murdoch in five ends - Tony Adams and Joe Bee being Sports other two players.

Billericay Sports "E" meanwhile enjoyed a 7 - 3 home win over Mountnessing "C" which could have been better had they fielded a third player against Alan Hart, Suzanne Shaw and Bruno Handel.  Richard Hayhoe and Mike Newman took all of the points on offer although Handel forced Newman into a fifth end - losing narrowly 2/11, 13/11, 7/11, 12/10, 10/12.

Mountnessing "B" recorded a handsome 10 - 0 home win over Buttsbury "B" in a match where none of the ties went to a fifth end.  John Newman, Len Jupe and Joan Donovan were in command from the off against Peter James, Frances Hutt and Bill Nutbrown and never looked like losing the initiative although only three of the ties were taken in three ends.

Brentwood "D"  found their opponents Buttsbury "C" just a shade too good for them and lost the match 4 - 6.  Buttsbury had an unbeaten performance from Tony Nettleingham to thank for three of their points with Louis Brown picking up two and Sam Yates one - the visitors however failed in the doubles, Brown/Yates losing in five to Rick Paris/Charles Yeung.  For the home side Paris won twice and Yeung once with new signing Peter Kurton unable to score.

Week Commencing 3rd October

Mountnessing "C" were away at Brentwood "D" and with only two players took all the points they could muster and passed the winning line with a 7 - 3 scoreline thanks to Peter Hardiman and Paul Singleton who were rarely troubled by Rick Paris, Graham Mann and Charles Yeung.

Buttsbury "C" held a 4 - 3 lead over Brentwood "C" but failed to pick up another point and lost the match 4 - 6.  Lewis Brown was again in the points with another two wins which included a very good win over John Benson 4/11, 11/7, 3/11, 11/9, 11/7 and both Sam Yates and Andrew Pepper assisted with a win apiece over Frank Porter - John White however was unbeaten, John Benson 2 wins and the pair combined to win the doubles.

Week Commencing 26th September

At home for their match against St. Josephs (Hutton) were Brentwood "D" but the match was not a particularly successful one for the home side as they crashed 10 - 0 to the team newly relegated from the First Division - Rick Paris, Graham Mann and Charles Yeung did their best but were outsmarted by Mike Pratley, Roy Barnes and David Barnes with only two of the ties reaching a fourth end.

Mike Newman (unbeaten) of Billericay Sports "E" led his team to an 8 - 2 home win over their local derby colleagues Billericay Sports "F" - Richard Hayhoe was also undefeated with Wally Sale winning once - Steve Murdoch was the unluckiest player on the night as all three of his encounters went to a fifth end and completed the match with a solitary point as did Voltaire Salvador, both beating Sale.   Four of the ties went to a fifth end with the home side producing the final points when it mattered and taking three wins from those games.

Week Commencing 19th September

Billericay Sports "F" emerged 6 - 4 winners in their match with Buttsbury "C" and had Voltaire Salvador playing on top form and unbeaten, ably abetted by Steve Murdoch with two wins plus a doubles win for the two -  Joe Bee making up the team against  Louis Brown who performed extremely well to collect two wins and Andrew Pepper and Sam Yates collecting one win each.  Paul Sturton came along to give the team his support in a contest which went to the final doubles before Sports could claim their victory.

St. Josephs (Hutton) got off to a winning start with a 7 - 3 home win over Billericay Sports "E" with Mike Pratley unbeaten, Ron Grief winning twice and Norman Feakins once against Mike Newman who picked up two wins, Ron Milbourn with one win and Wally Sale pointless - three of the ties went to a deciding fifth end with the visitors only able to collect a win in one of them - Milbourn's win over Feakins.           Two Mountnessing teams locked horns with the "B" side of Joan Donovan, Len Jupe and Claire Abraham defeating their "C" team of Bruno Handel, Suzanne Shaw and Paul Singleton - the final score being 7 - 3 to the "B" team - Donovan contributing three wins, Jupe two and Abraham one with Handel collecting two wins, Shaw one and Singleton doing his utmost but failing to score - losing two of his ties to deuce in the fifth end.
